Where to go for a Quiet Read in Shreveport-Bossier | "What to do in the Shreveport-Bossier Area?" Series

This weeks blog post is going to be fabulous for those of you reading the new Harry Potter book. You want to get lost in the wonderful world of wizardry and not be disturbed until the moment you have finished the book. A moment no one actually wants to end, but will inevitably come. So, why not enjoy the time you have with the wizardry world undisturbed?

Well, welcome to this weeks blog post...

My sister had a day off while her kids were in school and she called me up to ask where she could go to read a book and not be bothered. That was such an amazing question that I know I’ve asked before and others must have too! So today, let’s go through the places in Shreveport-Bossier for a quiet read.

The key to this question was the not be bothered part. Because there are plenty of places to go read but you may have a waiter and be obligated to tip appropriately.

So, this is a list of places where:

- There is no obligation
- The scenery is nice
- You’ll be able to eat if you like
- You’ll be able to get lost in your story!

  • Julie Anne’s
Enjoy your fabulous book while you munch on a fantastic pastry. P.S. they also have one of the best King Cakes in town. To.die.for!

  • Red River District
There is so much beauty at the Red River District. There is seating under the bridge for you to read while you watch the birds. For real though, the birds down there are not afraid of you at all.
There are also plenty of restaurants where you can get some to go food and eat while you read under the bridge.

  • Louisiana Boardwalk at the Fountain or on the River
So, the boardwalk is so amazing. There are numerous places to sit and read in peace.
Starting at the fountain; if you enjoy the sound of water then this is a great spot for you.
Next is the river front; here there are places to sit every 100 feet or so? I am not sure but there are many places to sit on the river along the boardwalk with great views! And when you’re done there is shopping and food here as well!

  • Betty Virginia
No food or shopping here. Just lots of quiet and families playing. Go for a stroll, watch families play, sit on a blanket under a tree and have a picnic. It is a gorgeous park!

  • Rhino Coffee (Line Av location- downtown is not open yet)
Ok, quiet is sort of a relative term here. If you are great at drowning out noises as long as you are cozy, then this place will work for you! It seems like at every turn there is a cozy sitting area where you can curl up and drown out the world!

  • Counter Culture’s many locations
Grab yourself a Humphrey and just enjoy peace with good dessert!

  • Bon Temps Coffee
This place has such an art bar kinda feel! If you want funky and comfy, this is the place. It is a great addition for Shreveports downtown for sure!

  • Hamel’s Memorial Park
Climb on top of the hill and read in peace by the river on your blanket while you watch nature.

  • Shreve Memorial Library - all the branches, but the downtown branch is.my.fave!!!
Oh, the downtown branch. You probably don’t even know it’s there. It is on Texas catty corner to the courthouse and it has this vibe inside that just makes you feel like you are THE coolest and artsiest person on earth! I walk in and I just want to read every book. The architecture is beautiful, the big windows are breathtaking, the many floors of books you could get lost in. It’s one of my favorite places on earth.
