Why I am so Excited for the Holidays!

Ok, who is excited for the holidays? Because let me tell you, this girl right here is! Christmas is the season of joy, Jesus’ birth, loving each other, and beautiful colors everywhere! At least, in my world that is what Christmas is, haha!

Hello Christmas and Mardi Gras! My two FAVORITE holidays on earth!

Before Christmas is advent for a month, oh, the joy of preparing to celebrate Jesus’s birth! EEK! We prepare by fasting all meat products except on days we spend celebrating with other believers. Which is on Sunday and Thursday for us!

And then comes Christmas day!

Christmas day is just magical, I still TOTALLY believe in Santa, and if you tell me any different I will pitch a fit like a child. Santa is the coolest ever and no one can tell me he isn’t real! (hehe!) My Mother and Mother-in-Law both read the Cajun Night Before Christmas which is one of my favorite books! And we sit down to eat together remembering all Christ has done for us!

After Christmas comes 12th night, the night the wise men made it to baby Jesus and the start of Mardi Gras season!

This year I want to try and see what the traditional thing is to do for 12th night to commemorate it so I am even more excited about it now!

Mardi Gras literally translates to ‘Fat Tuesday’. The season of Mardi Gras is a time of extreme celebration before lent. Mardi Gras is the last night to feast before the fast for Lent!

Lent is a fasting time in preparation of Jesus’s death and resurrection. And then we have Good Friday and Easter Sunday. And Easter Sunday is the day everything commences!I love these holidays for SO many reasons, community, the meaning in them, the food, the festivities, the colors, the tradition, the celebration, and oh the list goes on! There is just nothing quite like the months of December to April (or whenever Easter is that year). I cannot wait to blog more about my fun and festive holiday season!
